Patricia, you can use the Apple IIe to get the files directly.
The easiest way is to take your modem over to your IIe and download
from there. Do you have access to a shell account and is your PC's
modem external? If it is, then check to make sure one of the cards
you have is a serial card (very high probability). Use your IBM to
check out Intrec at http://www.intrec.com/ and take a look at
ProTERM 3.1 for the Apple II series. It is a high powered terminal
program. Buy it, hook up your PC's modem to your IIe (the IIe can
typically take 19200bps transfers and works well with 14.4 modems.
28.8 or faster can be used too, you just won't get the full speed
..but it WILL work. With 14.4, you can run at full speed since
the IIe's serial card can go faster).
Once you have the hardware and software set up, then it is a simple
matter to log onto your ISP from the IIe, ftp the files to your
account, then transfer them to your IIe via Zmodem.

Much better. This card is an auxilliary slot RAM card that can take
up to 1MB of memory expansion. You should have a disk that has the
drivers and patches necessary for ProDOS to recognize it as a RAM
disk in some software. AppleWorks needs a patch, for example, to
recognize the RAM. However, some programs (ProTERM and others) support
the card. You can make other programs recognize it by setting up
a RAM disk (for example, Publish-It! does not recognize it, but if
you set it up as a RAM disk, Publish-It! will then remove the RAM
disk and use the 1MB as memory space). It also provides 80 columns.
