You are mistaken, sir. The DeskWriter CAN work with programs that do
NOT use GS/OS printer drivers. You just need a SERIAL PORT DRIVER
that use high speeds (56Kbps).

You can even use AppleWorks Classic, with the DeskJet printer codes,
to print to a DeskWriter if you install a CDA which pumps the serial
port to 56Kbps.

The DeskWriter 600 is just like a DeskJet 600, with built in fonts,
and responds to the same codes. It just needs a high speed serial
port driver, which is included in Harmonie or Independence. Although
WPGS won't use the PRINTER drivers from those packages, it WILL use
the HIGH SPEED SERIAL PORT DRIVERS. Once the port driver is installed,
you just need DeskJet printer codes. You wouldn't happen to have a
copy of the WPGS DeskJet printer driver, would you? How about putting
a copy on ground?

Again, WPGS does not use GS/OS printer drivers, true. WPGS uses
serial port drivers, however. It should work just fine with the
high speed port drivers included with Harmonie or Independence.
Heck, you can even use a DeskWriter with AppleWorks Classic and other
P8 programs by installing a CDA that boost the port speed to 56K
(several exist and can be found at the usual FTP sites).
