ProDOS error $47

I am trying to get a file that is self-extracting to extract on a
self-booting Prodos 3.5" disk.  The extracting process begins, then halts
abruptly and gives me the cryptic "Extracting halted.  ProDOS error $47"

I've looked in all the FAQs of this group for explanation of this error and
found none, so one one has to point me there.  I've also attempted to look
it up in my Apple // ProDOS User's Manual and it's not listed there, nor is
it listed in my third party ProDOS book.
