Yes, B.J., there really is an Apple IIc LCD display.  I have two friends who 
have them, and keep bugging them to sell them to me when they tire of them.  
No luck, yet.
 
The display is not bright and you must be looking directly on the screen in 
"just right" lighting.  However, my friend who uses it with the IIc Plus (no 
power brick) has a truly Apple II laptop computer.  WHile it always has to 
be plugged in, he does have an adapter so it can be used from the cigarette 
lighter of his car.
