Since SoftDisk GS was not freeware, a freeware monthly disk subscription
would not be a direct replacement of this unique resource. The fact that
they paid well inspired many people to write programs or articles that

True enough. And Apple Blossom Publishing's new 2-disk quarterly
subscription "Hyper Quarterly" is planned to ship its first issue this
month. It is a commercial effort (i.e. it pays) and it is dedicated to
HyperCard GS, which means that a wider variety of people can create
publishable material - stacks, clip art, sounds, etc.
This effort has _already_ had the effect of dragging me back to working
with HCGS on a regular basis, having new ideas and trying them out, having
fun, making art, sharing thoughts - all those things on which the future
of Apple II computing depends. The more people who share this rebirth of
activity, the better off we are.
