For the record, SMTP is the protocol used by the majority of the
internet. POP and IMAP are newcomers in the area, although POP
_is_ more suitable than SMTP for offline reading. (I'm not really
familiar with IMAP so I can't comment on that one.) SMTP is the
appropriate protocol for hosts that are connected 24/7.
