I've got a RamFast SCSI card in my IIGS (Rom 03) that I've been using

I'm trying (without success) to connect to a 1 gig hard drive that is
HFS formatted. The drive works perfectly fine when connected to my
Macintosh (6100 pizza-box Mac), but the RamFast just won't recognize it
in any configuration (first on the chain, last on the chain... etc.).

The RamFast recognizes several other 270 MB HFS hard drives that I use,
with no problems whatsoever. It just won't recognize this drive. It
reports "device is offline".

Am I trying to do the impossible? Is one gigabyte (1060 MB) beyond what
the Ramfast can handle? What IS the limit? 500 MB?

Any suggestions?

Rich

Is the hard drive formatted to HFS standard or extended? Also if the
drive is recognized but not mountable under GSOS 6, then the HFS FST
should recognized it and you should get a dialog that asks you to
initialize the drive.

Is this the case?

Rob

Hi, Rob!

The drive is formatted to HFS Standard. I'm using Mac OS 7.5 (or thereabouts) on the Mac.

The drive is just not recognized. The RamFast utility lists each SCSI ID and for the ID I'm using it reports "Device Offline". Since the RamFast doesn't see it, GSOS doesn't know it's there. The other SCSI drives (three of them) of 270 MB show up just fine. I've tried it with only one of the 270's (with Prodos partitions to boot from) and the 1 gig one and the drive with the HFS does not show up.
