It was 5 Mar 1997 23:34:00 GMT. I was reading instead of working. And Quentin

There is no "normal" serial card typically found in slot 1 in a //e.

Although there was an Apple Serial card, it wasn't all that commonly installed;
prior to the ImageWriter, most printers were parallel. The most common card
*I* can recall from those days was, in fact, the Super Serial card.

You'll need to provide a description of the card so it can be identified.

Additionally, although I don't know for sure (not knowing the card), I would
very much doubt a straight through cable would work. Remember, connecting DTE
to DTE requires the pins reversed, etc., a la a null modem.
