need help attaching printer

I have a printer that I want to attach to an Apple IIe.  It's been 10 years 
since I last touched an Apple II, and I just bought this computer, so bear with 
me.  

The printer is serial, but the interface on it requires the baud rate, data bits 
and parity be set to match the serial interface on the computer.  I have not 
been able to figure out what the settings for the Apple's serial interface are 
through trial and error.  Anybody know?  Also, is there anything special about 
the serial cable, or will it just use a straight through cable?

As far as I can tell, it's just the normal (not the Super Serial card) serial 
card typically found in slot 1.
