That's not arguing built-in v. installed, that's arguing expansion space. As
most modern PCs with multimedia kits and 24 bit color installed have more free
expansion slots than any Mac on the market, it's still (IMHO) largely
irrelevant.
The big question most customers ask is, "how many slots are *free*?"
