Like I was telling Steve Buggie once, I'd try awfully hard to find the
proper parts to make a //e upgrade style IIgs. You're in for some tedious
hacksaw work to make holes in the //e bottom for the ports, and the standoff
and screw holes won't line up. I built a //e upgrade from parts a few years
ago. The local dealer had a "garage sale" and I picked up an entire upgrade
kit minus logic board for $1. It had the manual, stickers, and another copy of
system software 1.1 like my Woz box came with, but most importantly, the metal
bottom and plastic standoffs to mount up a logic board. So I added the top
part of a //e case and I was set. Man I wish I could find more of those
sales, can't find $10 IW network cards, $20 HS SCSI cards, and $20 workstation
cards still shrinkwrapped just anywhere.
If you can't luck out like this, I'd try the mail order places like Shreve.
They've gotten some bad hype lately but they came through for me with a
replacement Mac 128 case when my 128 got damaged in shipping. No one else
had 'em and they had more than one.
Oh yeah, FWIW, I use a grey //e style power supply in my upgrade box. It has
the same aluminum box as most newer IIgs supplies, but with a //e connector.
