Slot 1 ???? So it will start up first???
You should have the SCSI card in slot 7 and check to make sure the control
panel setting is set to "your card". Then it will start up first.

The startup sequence is 7,6,5 ---> 1.

Also 99 times out of 100 slot one is setup for the printer. So unless you
changed the control panel The GS shouldn't see it at all in slot 1.
It can work in slot 1 but it wouldn't be a normal location for a HD of
any type.

I have a ZIP hooked to my APPLE hi-speed SCSI card and it works fine.
Mine is setup like this:

SCSI card in slot 7, SCSI card hooked to the ZIP, ZIP hooked to the
CD-ROM, CD-ROM hooked to the Quantum HD which supplies the termination
needed.

The Zip has a setting for termination on or off. Mine is set in the off
position since it's not the last unit in the SCSI chain. I have never
tried to use the ZIP termination setting in the ON position.
