New Print Shop

I'm having problems copying "The New Print Shop" on
5.25 inch disks to -as few 3.5 inch disks- as
possible.

We have a copy of "The New Print Shop" on 5.25 inch
floppy disks, 2 sided, 1 program disk + about 13 data disks
("School & Business Edition", etc.).

One of our teachers has an Apple IIgs with two 3.5
inch disk drives, but no 5.25 inch drives.

I called Broderbund, and they said it's not copy
protected and as long as only one person is using it,
they don't care if I change it to another format, he
even said his bosses might be willing to mail us 3.5
inch disks in exchange, but after a pause he told me
they don't have any version of "Print Shop" for the
Apple II's on either 5.25 or 3.5 inch disks in stock
anymore!

I tried using "Apple System Utilities", formatted the
3.5 DS/DD inch disk with ProDOS and named it /psa the
same as "TNPS" program disk side one, then did a "Copy
files" and selected "All". Worked fine. I tried
booting from the 3.5 copy and it was good. This was
side 1 of the 5.25 program disk, on one 3.5 disk.

However, then I tried to get fancy. I know a 3.5 disk
has a much greater capacity than a 5.25 inch disk. I
wanted to get both side 1 and side 2 of the 5.25
program disk on one 3.5 disk, so the teacher wouldn't
have to have two 3.5 disks, one for each side of the
5.25 disk.

I tried copying all files from side 1, then side 2 of
the 5.25 inch disk, on the 3.5 disk named /psa. The
copying stopped with a message that only 150 items
could be listed in one directory.

So then I reformatted the 3.5 disk, named it /ps,
with a subdirectory /psa and a second subdirectory
named /psb. I copied side 1 of the 5.25 program disk
to /psa, and side 2 to /psb.

When I tried booting, I got a message that the IIgs
could not find ProDOS. So I copied ProDOS from /psa
to /ps. I rebooted. I received another message that
there was no SYS file. At this point I knew I was in
over my head and quit.

Can anyone think of a way I could get the whole
program on one 3.5 DS/DD disk? Or since the program
is designed to boot from one side, then look for side
b, am I just going to have to copy it to two 3.5 inch
disks?

Finally, I'm assuming that the other 13 data disks
are just files, there should be no problem in
crowding, say all three "Party Edition" two-sided
5.25 inch disks onto one 3.5 inch disk.

Ideas, comments, suggestions, anyone?

This is my first post to the Apple2 UseNet. Nathan
Mates suggested I check www.dejanews.com for access,
and that's what I've done.
