GS, Atalk, DeskJet 1600CM UPDATE
Well, folks, thanks for the advice!
I haven't got the Appletalk line run to my desk yet, but I pulled my GS
over to the network this evening and tried it out. Indeed, the
LaserWriter driver does not work with the DeskJet at all if I use the
version that shipped with GS/OS 6.0.1, but when I used the GS/OS 6.0
LaserWriter driver, I was able to print easily from Teach.
GraphicWriter is another story. For some reason, the first time I tried
to print from GraphicWriter III (NOT version 2.0 just yet...) I got a
PostScript error from the DeskJet. There is a possibility that the
document is corrupt, because I don't have the same fonts installed on that
machine as I had on the machine I used to create the document, and I am
not sure how the translations were taken care of...or not, as the case may be.
I'll keep fiddling with it, particularly once I get my AppleTalk drop in
place, and I'll let youse guys know what I find out. And in case anyone
wants to offer further advice: The HP DeskJet 1600CM is a PostScript
ink-jet color printer with AppleTalk. I have not yet tried the IWEM with it.
Curious: Does IWEM emulate an IW-II? If it does, then would it send
color data to the printer? Naaaaaaah, they probably never re-wrote it
after the LaserWriter II came out... 8-)
