The label color is the serial # color on the label, on the side of the
drive.

The other way to tell, incase of missing label or swapped PCBs:

On the bottom of the drive, at back end opposite the 20 pin connector,
there is a 16 pin DIP pattern.

On the red labeled drive- the area between most of the pins is all a
land area (solid) and on the black label, the area is hardly solid at
all.

There's a very very very very slim to no chance ever that the PCBs are
wrong. Especially if it from a working install. When swapping parts in
to a working gone bad install, compare them in these two areas for
confirmation.
