Re: Printing in color

Yes, there is. If you have an Imagewriter II, there are a series
of control sequences that tell the printer to print in color. (provided
you have the 4-color ribbon installed) On my copy of Appleworks,
I installed another printer to do the color printing. It's not really
a separate printer, just another configuration of your Imagewriter,
but it looks to Appleworks as if you are installing another printer.
You can do this by choosing "Other Activities" from the Main Menu,
then choosing "Standard Settings", then choose "Printer Settings",
then choose "Add a Printer". Tell Appleworks that you have an Imagewriter
II. When you are asked for a name that will appear on the printer
list, type something like "Imagewriter, color". Then tell Appleworks
what port the printer is connected to. There will then be a list
of printer settings that you have the option of modifying. Choose
"Printer codes". Then choose "Special Codes". This is where you
enter the control sequences to get color printing. You are allowed
to enter 6 codes. Since there are 7 possible colors to print, one
of them must be left off. When entering the codes, type the keystrokes
just as shown. They ARE case sensitive. <ESC> means the escape key.
If you make a mistake, you cannot correct it with backspace. Press
Open Apple-RETURN and start that code over again. When it has been
entered, Open Apple-RETURN tells Appleworks it is done. I will list
the codes for switching to different colors. These codes do not
have spaces between the keys, so don't put any in!

Black <ESC>K0 (That's "zero", not "oh")
Yellow <ESC>K1
Red <ESC>K2
Blue <ESC>K3
Orange <ESC>K4
Green <ESC>K5
Purple <ESC>K6

Now, when you create a document and you come to a word or phrase
you want in a different color, press Open Apple-O to get into the
printer options. Type sc for special codes. Then type the number
of the code which tells the printer to print in the desired color.
Be sure to do the same process to switch back to black when the
colored phrase is done. When you print the document, choose the
printer named "Imagewriter, color" or whatever you called it.
