: Yeah I know, Merlin is $99 and because anything I make with it is going to
: be for my own use anyway, I'm not going to make a penny off of it. $99 is
: to much to waste on a program if I'm not going to be 100% happy with it.
: That's why I'm trying it out first.
I think that many master programmers who pay $3000 for some developer
software for Bill Gate's junk machines will disagree that $99 is too much.
They don't have any empathy for poor students with a gs. I think it's
important that good (and only good) programs are bought if anybody uses
them frequently, but for people with little money it may be essential
to try them out.

Even if you prefer Assembler, I would recommend that you have a look at
C. C programs are easily written and with Assembler subroutines, they
are a powerful tool for powerful programs.

Respect? The only people who get respect here, are people who have
already written a complete UNIX-compatible multitasking operating system
or something similar (It may be interesting to know, that many very good
programmers who HAVE written such stuff are scared by that newsgroup
as well.) Some of the elite programmers have already lost the link to
the time when they were students and hobby-hackers. They are not really
evil, but they see everything in a black-and-white view except themselves.
: I DIDN'T threaten anyone, what I said was "because everyone of those not so

: all this Merlin crap. If you or ANYONE else wants to talk more about
: pirates, Merlin or anything to do with me, EMAIL ME and keep it out of
: here.
Right! Not Merlin or e-mails are interesting, it's the flame war!
: I only thing I want from you and/or others is to stop thinking of me as a
: pirate, a pirate is a trader and/or a con and/or a guy this is ripping
: someone off. I'm NOT a pirate, I simply download software, try it, if I
: like it I BUY it from the people who MADE it, IF I don't like it, I DELETE
: all of it OR put it on disk packed away so I can try it again at a better
: time. I DON'T give ANY of what I download to ANYONE not even friends. See
: ya.
That's good. Not all programmers act like jerks. They are a minority, but
they scare the whole Apple II community. They won't understand that they
will hurt themselves with their rude attitude, perhaps because many of
them have switched to other systems. Such people won't feel the losses -
until they start to sum up.
The best way to deal with these flamers who flame for fun, is to ignore
them. That's the best cure for their ego. Come on, give me a hot one!
But there are others, who still act like human beings. The best way
is to talk with many people who have not yet lost the "AppleLink".
Then you will see the main reason why you should not pirate programs;
you will see that you are actually stealing from nice guys like you
and me People who love the whole Apple II community and not only
themselves..

If you feed a man a fish you will have a reliable customer but if you
teach him how to fish, you will have a competitor. ;)
: Life is a fruitcake, its full of nuts.
The most intelligent sentence which I have read in this discussion.
Remember, keep your "AppleLink" alive,
