Derek's GS/TCP requires certain functions that is only available in
GNO 2.0.6 kernel (i.e. BSD socket support). It should be theoretically
possible to write a TCP/IP interface for the GS that doesn't require
GNO, but one would have to rewrite parts of GNO to keep BSD socket
compatibility. The BSD socket compatibility is used to easily
port UNIX-based tcp/ip based programs to the GS. If one scratches
BSD socket compatibility, porting code would be harder, but it
still could be done.

Several individuals have made announcemnets that they wanted to write
PPP for the GS (which means they had to write a full set of TCP/IP
routines) over the last few years. It appears that Derek is the only
one who has made progress. Granted, it requires that you have to
have GNO, Derek has worked hard writing GS/TCP over the last three
or so years and should be commended when he has fully working
polished version upon completion.
