Yes, TVs are great for color graphics (games, etc.), but if you want to
do some work, 80-column text is a practical necessity. You should be
able to find old monochrome monitors, the kind with RCA connectors,
for less than $20 in most large cities. Computer surplus stores and
user groups are good places to check out. I regularly see 12" green
monitors with RCA video connectors for $10-$15 in the San Jose area.
