Re: ROM 3 sucks

To verify this, open the 'SetStart' Control Panel and make sure the
'Enable programmer CDAs' option is unchecked. If it was, change it and
perform a warm boot, then afterwards look to see if 'Visit Monitor' and
'Memory Peeker' are present still.
The reason is the ROM 3 checks the value of bits in a location of
Slow-RAM, Bank E1 at 017D. When you cold-boot your ROM 3, the value at
that location _should_ be '00', but on my system and probably yours as
well, it's 'FF'. It has something to do with the state of certain brand
or type of 64Kx4 DRAMs, and how they behave, when you power up your IIgs.
I just keep a small INIT files in my /System.Setup folder. It forces
the value to '00' and temporarily purges the two CDA's (plus 'Alternate
Display Mode', as it's rarely used). The next time I warm-boot, the CDA's
are gone for good, or at least until I power-down my system.
