I think you either have one that is out of adjustment, near dead or
improperly configured, they are considered tghe best of the Applle IIe
color monitors and cost something like $1,000 + a few hundred for the
Video Card needed to run them. Due to the high initial cost and heavy
weight (27 Lbs) there are fewer of them than all of the other Apple II
monitors around, I love mine and would never go back to the composite
monitor.
I don't know much about the Video seven cards, never having had one but I
can tell you the following information on the monitors and other cards
that support it ( I love mine, used with an AE RGB Card on a 3 meg IIe).
The Monitor you have is an Applecolor 100, the digital monitor for the
IIe, there are a number or boards which support it, it will not work
without a replacement board for the IIe 80 Column = 64K card. Among the
cards that support it are:
Apple RGB Card for the IIe (64K + 80 Column) Total Ram cannot exceed 128K,
Total Ram Cannot Exceed 128K on Aux Slot.
Ramworks III RGB Piggyback Card, Total Ram can be up to 3 megs, like on
this machine.
Most folks know that the Applecolor Monitor is a lot better than the runny
composite monitors that were common on the II's. The Apple Color 100 is
not the same monitor as the IIgs RGB, as Apple changed the standards after
the IIe monitor was made. Put another way you can run a IIgs monitor on
the card and it looks like *%#$.....The reverse is true, also.
People often get confused on the AE Video Cards for the Ramworks III
as there were three
RGB Only Applecolor 100 (IIe RGB)
RGB (Digital Prism) Only Applecolor and IBM
Colorlink IIgs RGB and IBM Monitors
Hope that this helps...
