Exporting large APF images?
Is there any current Apple IIgs software that can export large
Apple Perferred Format (APF) Super-Hi-Res images *without* clipping?
As most of you know, Platinum Paint 2.0 can create APF images larger
than 640/320x200, in fact even larger than 640/320x396, which was
the limit of older software such as Deluxe Paint II. As well, if you
own a Quickie scanner, it is quite common where scanned images will
exceed two pages vertically (another source of large APF's).
As it happens, I have done scans where the saved APF image can
be around 320x500. The problem is when I go to export that image into
a format such as GIF, BMP or TIFF, all software wants to clip it to
one screen wide by two screen long. I've tried SuperConvert, The
Graphics Exchange, Convert 3200 and GIFfy-Save. GIFfy-Save at least
_thinks_ it can export large APF's, but the resulting GIF it creates
is either clipped or a blank screen. As for Convert 3200, it seems
to insist on reducing the image to 320x200 before it can even be
exported. I would just simply like to move some images from the IIgs
to a PC or Mac.
Have any of these programs been updated to handle exporting of
large APF's, or perhaps I've missed a feature within them that will
allow me to do it? Maybe there's a shell program for GNO/Orca that
will do what I want?
