For each slot, you can choose in the control panel "Your Card" or
whatever the "function" for that slot is. If you put a card in a slot
and don't set the slot to "Your Card" in the control panel, the
card might work and it might not. If the card has firmware, it
won't work. Cards that just use the bus signals and don't need to
be in the CPU's address space should work. So the answer to your
question is "it depends on what cards you want to put in."

It will work for ProDOS 8 programs (as long as the slot it is in is
set to "Your Card" :-). But you really should get an ADB mouse. 3rd
party (non-Apple) ADB mice are really cheap at most computer stores.
