Somewhere on the apple2.caltech.edu archive, there is an archive
containing a shell called ecp16. I'm not 100% sure of its status. The
docs say shareware but say you don't have to register until a newer
version comes out. To my knowledge, there was never a later version.
This shell isn't perfect. It's ancient and doesn't work properly with
fsts. However, some exe files work with it. I have gotten emacs and
yankit to work right even though yankit's docs say that it won't. I'd
sure like to know what happened to Carolina Systems because it would be
nice if somebody could release an update. The shell is small, requires
very little memory, and it's error messages are quite understandable. It
even supports limited batch files.
