If I'm just doing word processing work, I may use Hermes NDA. It works
just fine for that sort of work (and you can adjust the ruler!).

However, Hermes, EGOed, CoolWriter, and whatever else has been mentioned
in this thread are NOT comparable substitutes for AWGS. Remember that
Appleworks is MORE than just a word processor... It's a spreadsheet and
a database (and a page layout and communications, but I rarely use these).

The ability to quickly switch from word processing to my spreadsheet and
then reference to the database is a most useful tool which should not be
forgotten. A word processor does only one of these jobs.

If the communications module were to be updated to allow faster speeds...
Just think... I could look up a web page in lynx, and immediately paste
text into my document. Wow!
