   A 'straight thru' cable is also a modem cable. Each pin that's connected
is connected to the same numbered pin on the other side.

   A printer cable is a modem cable with a null modem built in. Most of
the pins connect to the counterpart on the other side, so that transmit
on one side is recieve on the other.

   As said earlier, you want an *odd* number of printer cables between
your computer and the printer, and any number of straight thru cables.
Thus, one printer cable will do fine. Or one printer cable and a
straight thru cable. Or 3 printer cables. Or some other combo.
