Hayes Smartcom for Windows has variable pacing in ascii mode (I assume that's
what you want to use.) If your monitor can't keep up, you should do your transfer
at the lowest baud rate (300 baud). You can also use the "copy" command in
DOS or OS/2 to send a file to a port. I have a small REXX program for OS/2
that allows variable pacing if you use OS/2. It should be pretty easy to write
a program in QuickBasic to run under DOS.
