Oops, I screwed up the subject listing on my first posting. Anyway....
I have a IIGS, 4mb RAM, System 6.0.1, Apple High Speed SCSI with a 40mb
external drive. It was my only computer and ran almost constantly. I've
had a Mac for several years now so the GS doesn't see a lot of use. I
went to use it a week or so ago only to find it would not load from the
hard drive. Reseated the SCSI card, swapped SCSI cables, checked startup
settings, tried different SCSI id's, all to no avail. The hard drive
fires - power light comes on, red light flickers, GS scans available
volumes - red light flickers again and then it tries to load from the
5.25" drive. The System Install disks don't even recognize the hard disk
is available. I hooked it up to my Mac and it doesn't see it (not even to
tell me that it isn't a Mac formatted volume, etc.) What's happened here?
Is the hard drive shot? Any ideas how I can get my IIGS up and running
again. I certainly don't want to reformat the drive and rebuilt it but at
this point I can't even do that!
Please e-mail me if you have any ideas.
Thanks,
Larry
