The way most users handle net-to-pc-to-apple2 is via a NULL modem
connection between the Apple II and the PC. You connect a modem cable
(i.e. a cable that would, normally, go to a modem) from each computer to
the NULL modem connector-- basically, two 25-pin female sockets connected
end-to-end with crossed data I/O, etc. lines. (You can get a NULL modem
connector at Radio Shack.)

Then, you start a telecom program on each computer (e.g. Telemate on
the PC and Spectrum or ProTerm or Modem MGR or AnsiTerm on the Apple II)
and send files from the PC to the Apple. The protocol (e.g. z-modem,
x-modem, etc.) needs to match; and, the baud rate setting on the PC side
needs to match that for the Apple side.

Usually, it seems best to start the PC "Send" and then start the Apple
II "Receive". (You will, typically, have about 30 seconds before the PC's
Send times out.)
