So why did you stick with Apple? What Apple did is called the free market.
They charged what people would pay. Since when is that a problem?

The point, of course, is that you are taking something that belongs to others.
If you think the copyright holders don't care anymore, why don't you ask
them? Ask them to reclassify the software as freeware. Ask them to put it
into the public domain.
Until then, your "reasons" are the sort of feeble excuses common to
schoolchildren.
