Programming the cassette port is EXACTLY like programming the internal
speaker.  A quick & easy POKE/sector edit will redirect all sound from
the internal speaker to the port*.  The quality *does* go up, IMHO,
just because your sound is coming out "real" speakers, as opposed to a
tiny thing clipped to the //e / ][+'s metal baseplate.  With some
programs, the quality increase is *very* noticeable.

*Several POKEs/sector edits may be necessary.  If so, you can redirect
*some* of the sound, making a game sort of stereoish.  I've got a
BASIC synthesizer routine that sounds WICKED when made stereoish.

Fun fact: Floppy (the game) has different sounds coming out both the
port and internal speaker.  It's stereo!
