And you didn't have this before you installed the Zip? Did your 14.4
modem work OK before? The Zip should make telecom better, not worse.
Sounds like either an interrupt problem, or a modem cable problem.
Do a Shift-boot and try it. If the problem goes away, then you have a
conflict. If you have Twilight II, it can wreak havoc with interrupts.
