What new software are you talking about? Apple hasn't released anything
that you would be interested in for 8-bit Apples for years and years.
ProDOS 2.x's only new feature from your viewpoint is the ability to map
multiple hard drive partitions to other slots. ProDOS 1.9 improved the BYE
code so that it's very similar to Bird's Better Bye, but the new BYE code
requires an enhanced 128K IIe or IIc-- otherwise you get the old BYE code.
ProDOS 2.x requires an enhanced IIe or IIc to run at all.
