I have been following this NG for a while, and the flames come and go. 
It is abnormal to have this many flames in a non-smut NG. Most of us are 
genuinely interested in helping others out, even "newbies". The only 
thing that irritates me is for the 1000th+ time seeing someone being 
referred to the FAQ. I could care less about an FAQ. Besides, most 
people who get the infernal referral are newcomers who haven't the 
slightest idea where the FAQ is, or that it even exists. If someone 
posts a question, and I feel I can help out, I simply offer my advice, 
instead of spurting out a line such as: 

Well, if you would have read the FAQ, stupid, you would already know 
this ... but thanks for posting your lame question which has already 
been asked (fill in a number - because you have been keeping track!) 
times! Okay, stupid, now that I have made you feel like an idiot, here's 
the answer ...

No one has answered a question this rudely, but through careful word 
phrasing, the end result sometimes is pretty darn similar!!

I do not know what the root of all the hostility is, and it is a shame 
to see knowledgeable, intelligent, and experienced people at each others 
throats when they could do so much more if they just resolved their 
differences and worked together.

Wait a minute - the above was just a recipe for world peace, and even 
the greatest chefs have yet to serve it to mankind.
