I was flipping through the back pahes of http://www.navi.net/apple/ and
I found this:

"An interesting bit of trivia regarding the name of the computer
surfaced during our research. It seems that the
earliest versions were called the "Apple Computer". The advertising
flyer dated 1976 calls it the "Apple
Computer". The motherboard has a label with "Apple Computer 1" on it.
The 1977 manual is labeled
"Apple-I Operation Manual", and includes drawings and schematics with
"APPLE-1" in the title block.
Throughout the manual, it's called the "Apple Computer" or the "Apple
System". "

So there it is, unless of course everyone already Knew this and figured
this thread would be good for a laugh or two...
