Yes, that was nice, however, if you notice the raw data from
ComputerEyesGS is captured in a very narrow portion of that 6-bit
range.  In order to be properly used, the raw data has to be
normalized to eight bits, then quantized or displayed straight.
If the normalization process is skipped, you get a very dark
image with little or no contrast.  Additionally, you seldom got
more than 200 colors regardless.

That was the nice thing about Allison raw images...they are what
they are--raw.  They required no normalization and they had far
more color information in them than CEGS images.  In fact, if you
took the time to normalize the data to eight-bits, then display
it in something like PhotoShop or Paint Shop Pro, the images look
quite good.  Of course, they're only 320x200 but they're
good--much better than ComputerEyesGS raw images displayed the
same way.
