both. i have an imagewriter ii and a laserwriter networked to the iigs
(with a file sharing mac plus, which i assume isn't relevant). it is the
imagewriter that is not responding. it is the laserwriter that is
overprinting on one line. thanks for the init string recommendations.
havn't had time to try them yet, but will. as for the imagewriter (which
i prefer to the laserwriter for on-line data printing), one thing i
didn't mention is that it is equipped with a sheet-feeder. is that
relevant? does pt3.1 not support automatic sheet-feeding on the imagewriter?

ok. i had forgotten about the emulator in this situation; i remenber now
that that had solved the overprinting problem before when i had tried
it. will do. tha actual imagewriter still has me stumped though, and i
would rather just use *that*. i'm hoping the sheet-feeder doesn't turn
out to be the problem. thanks again for your helpful response. --robb
