appletalk printing w/ proterm 3.1

proterm 3.1 lists the iigs appletalk port among the available printer 
ports, yet i get no response from my networked imagewriter ii.  is there 
a special init string that needs to be sent to the printer, or is this 
just not possible?  meanwhile, when i try to print to the networked 
laserwriter (w/ iw ii emulator downloaded) it prints all lines selected 
from scrollback over one line on the printed page.  thanks in advance for 
any help anyone can offer.  --robb
