If you have a mouse card plugged into a ROM 1 IIgs (slot must be set to
Your Card) and the mouse firmware in slot 4 is disabled, then the IIgs
will use the IIe mouse instead of the ADB mouse.  This applies to
applications which use the toolbox and those which call the mouse
firmware directly.

If you have the mouse firmware enabled and a mouse card in another slot
(also enabled), then the IIgs would probably use the mouse in the
highest slot for access through the toolbox.

8-bit applications might pick an arbitrary mouse (depending on their
slot search order), and some programs might assume the IIgs mouse is
always in slot 4.

In a ROM 3 IIgs, the toolbox always uses the ADB mouse.  You can set
slot 4 to "Your Card" and continue to use the mouse in GS/OS (this is
how my machine is configured).  If you install a IIe mouse card, then
8-bit software will use the IIe mouse and GS/OS software will use the
ADB mouse.
