Well, duh. Why do you suppose the ROM 0/01 mouse firmware works the same as
a mouse card? For the benefit of those with //e's who bought the upgrade kit
and wanted to use their mouse and card. ADB mice didn't grow on trees back
in those days. Apple totally axed //e hardware support with the ROM 3, it 
only works with ADB keyboards and mice and can't use a //e power supply.

You ever try >1 ADB mouse on a machine with ADB? I've tried using a mouse
and the trackball on my powerbook. Just makes the pointer kinda jittery when
you move 'em both at the same time. I would expect a IIgs to do something
like that but maybe not considering the weirdness of the mouse setup on a
ROM 0/01. No such problem on a ROM 3, native software would use the ADB
mouse regardless of the slot 4 setting, and 8 bit software would use whichever
was switched in.
