   I looked into this for Swatdisk functionality. Basically, GS/OS is
not re-entrant, so drivers cannot subcontract out to others. In other
words, the driver that lets the disk image look like a real disk
cannot read or write to the disk holding the disk image at will.

   Thus, if you want to mount a disk image on the desktop, play with
it, and such, you might as well use Swatdisk to make a temporary disk,
and copy stuff out when done. (Yes, GSHK 1.1 can unpack shrunk 5.25"
disks to 140K swatdisks). Next problem you'll run into is that the
Dos 3.3 FST can't write to disks (real 5.25"s or 140K Swatdisks), so
even if you could make a "disk image mounter," you couldn't write
to them.
