Help! Can't make Kermit-65 work with my modem.


I was using Kermit-65 successfully to download from a 
VAX/VMS system (Kermit-32) to a 128K Apple IIe- using
a Prometheus Internal Modem. I now have a "Viva" IBM style
modem connected to a Super Serial Card. All other comm programs
works great- including my BBS system, but Kermit-65 will dial,
connect, give a few characters of the opening prompt, then disconnect??
I have check SSC switch settings, tried reconfiguring Kermit,
and reloaded Kermit to my HD from the original archive.
The VAX works otherwise with my other comm programs. 
Any suggestions to this very irritating problem would be
GREATLY appreciated,
