Maybe. Still, a dedicated Web Browser machine is much like a
dedicated Word Processor machine.

The main difficulty with dedicated Web Browser machines, dedicated
Word Processor machines, dedicated Game machines, etc. is that a computer
'does everything' for not a lot more $$$ than any one dedicated unit. The
user need only learn how to use one machine and needs just the space one
machine occupies.

Today's dedicated Web Browser needs mass storage, diskette or
write-able CD, a KB and mouse, decent Sound, a modem, and a good display
(not just a TV hookup). Assuming efficient production and marketing, it
would have to be priced around at least $400. This is not much of a saving
from the $600 a shopper would pay for a PC system which handles web
browsing just fine.

And, what happens when Commodore introduces the "Browser PLUS", a
nifty new unit which also plays games and does word-processing?! Like,
you'd have to be pretty dense to get the Apple WB when the Commodore BP
costs about the same and lets you play DOOM VII, too.

Basically, once you have a WB, it makes no sense to limit its
function. A web browser needs to include computer hardware. It might as
well be a computer.
