     You can remove a spronger from the plug, cut off the old lead,
uncrimp and clean out the remains of the old lead, and solder on the new
lead.

     To remove a spronger all you need is a small screwdriver. Use it to
press up on the spronger (near the wire lead end) through the slot on the
side of the plug. This lifts a small tab which allows you to pull the
spronger out.
