It is possible that due to the fact that you're using an http file
host, the corruption you're experiencing isn't due to the fact that
you're not compressing the file, but is rather a byproduct of
uploading a file whose type isn't recognized, and is thus by default
assumed to be text, triggering some unwanted "line terminator"
conversions during the upload process.  If that's the case, you may
find that simply renaming your file to add a .zip suffix prior to
uploading it will be enough to cause the upload to be done as binary
with no conversions.  After downloading the file to the Mac, you
should be able to simply rename the file again to remove the
bogus .zip suffix and if that's the cause of the problem, the file
should be usable.  It might be worth a try.
