Just because the Macs are jumping on the silliness bandwagon with
Windows doesn't mean I want this silliness to start being used on my
IIgs.

My statement above applies here again.  Even if I had a Mac, I would
not want this sort of thing happening.  I would certainly complain to
any company that followed this practice.  Perhaps this is something
that should be addressed by Apple's Human Interface Guidelines.

This I don't mind.  I like to keep the appropriate files in the
appropriate place as well.  I would much rather see just CDAs and NDAs
in my Desk.Accs folder.

Storing a preference file in the */System/Preferences folder is
perfectly logical and appropriate IF your program is one that is used
by the system or can be accessed at any time while using the system.
This would include CDAs, NDAs, inits, CDEVs and others.

It is when programs like Spectrum decide to put their preferences
there that I get annoyed.  What logical reason is there for putting
them there?  Why not just keep all the Spectrum related stuff in the
Spectrum folder and all the System related stuff in the System folder?
Is this not logical and a better way to organize and keep track of
things?

I don't know.  Maybe I'm just nit-picking again.
