Re: Help: Convert AW files to IBM

If you don't happen to have 2 modems just go to Radio Shack or whatever
computer store you like and get a null modem. You'll probably need a
gender changer also. The gender changer depends on the port that your
modem is usaly connected to. If your modem uses the 9 pin port you'll
need a 9 pin female to a 25 pin female. If your modem uses the 25 pin
port you'll need a 25 pin female to 25 pin female gender changer. The
whole setup should cost about $10.00 unless you need a cable. I just used
a 25 pin cable that I had laying around I don't remeber if it was a
printer cable or a modem cable.

After you set up the cables to the modem ports of each computer just
start your term programs on each computer. Make sure that the baud and
the stop bits and everything else is set the same. Once you have the term
programs running you should be all ready to go, just type anything on the
keyboard of one of the computers and if what you typed shows up on the
other computers monitor you're ready to tranfer.

I did this on my GS and a 486 pc to make boot and root disks for Linux.
The pc was given to me and only had a 5 1/4 and 3.5 disk drives. I used a
boot disk to start the pc and MS Works 2.0 on the pc and AppleWorks GS on
my GS. After I got a hard drive on the pc and got Linux installed I used
Seyon on the pc and AnsiTerm on the GS (goes a lot faster than the former).

This was so easy to do it worked the very first time! Hope this helps.
