Thanks to the many folks who generously shared their
experience with the Apple HiSpeed SCSI card
ID#7-problem-which-is-probably-the-source
of my "ghost" partitions on my friend's Rom01,
I went to change the ID# and, alas, the changer
didn't [doesn't] respond. :-(
This is a Quantum 105mg Portable-by-Jasmine 3.5"
external drive, that, with the exception of the faulty
ID# selector, works perfectly.
The selector is on the bottom of the case, and it
consists of an inset turquoise square whose round
center is a "+" configuration of small
slots for a screwdriver surrounded by the numbers 0-9.
Turning the "+" a notch at a time, then rebooting on
my RamFAST to verify the ID#, I got the address #7 on
all but one setting, where I was able to get #0 [the other
# that won't work on the Apple HS :-(].
I removed the drive from its case, checked for
tight connections to the selector, replaced the
drive, and tried again--same results.
Is there any way to repair the selector? change the ID# to 1-6?
TIA again,
Bob
