Re: So what!
Nicholas swallowed this pridefully:
NPC| This year I started my class with no scratch paper, no journals,
| no nametags, no scissors, no nothing. I moved into a new room
| which hadn't been painted in 10+ years.
NPC| Meanwhile the people at both the district office and our cluster
| office (another level of management) have all the PowerMacs,
| laserprinters, and scanners I could ever imagine. Literally every
| person has one on their desk.
Off-topic to the group but on-topic to your msg :) is this rant from a
friend who quit education for the above reason...
Summer school. Classrooms sweltering. Kids passing out from heat.
Thousands were spent on air conditioners and carpeting for the new
executive wing and offices. Old building wasn't wired for THAT much
current so the admins kept popping breakers while the kids cooked.
On-topic to both discussions, this from my own experience (both of my
parents are teachers)...
In my school district, the high schoolers get hand-me-up unenhanced
Apple //e's and the occasional C plus Tandy 1000's and 1986-made Macs.
The kindergarten classes get brand new GS's (this was 1988, okay?).
* 2qwk! 2.02 * Enough of this dog & pony show you call a sex life...
