Check the serial number. If the first four digits are between 700-704,
then it has the old VGC unless it has been replaced.
Again, between 704 and 708, they have ROM 00 and new VGC.
Later have ROM 01. (Apart from ROM 03, of course :) ).
The upgrade to ROM 01 usually included the VGC, if yours came from a
dealer in 1988 as indicated in other post, then they will have upgraded
it accordingly to allow GS/OS to run...
